International Workshop in the UK - Nottingham - 5 April 2011

Should corporate culture trump local culture? Does facilities management in different countries conform to national stereotypes? Do we need international standards to drive its development? Is there an accepted international definition of FM? Are facilities skills portable across borders? These and other questions were tackled at the 11th Global FM International Workshop held alongside the Th!nk FM conference earlier this month in Nottingham, UK. Th!nk FM was organised by the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM).

The Workshop was chaired by David Millar of international construction services firm Hochtief, chair of BIFM’s International Special Interest Group. Over 30 participants were welcomed by Global FM chair Teena Shouse and the chair of BIFM, Ian Broadbent.

Working across Boundaries – The FM Challenge in an Advancing World?
Tuesday 26 October 2010 -0900 - 1200 Hours, Parallel Session

Global FM had the opportunity to run two workshops in 2010 to explore the challenges and opportunities that cross border delivery facilities management faces and to look at practical and repeatable solutions. After the Workshop in London in April, during BIFM Annual Conference, Global FM organised another International Workshop in Atlanta on 26th Ocotber, parallel to IFMA's World Workplace 2010 Conference & Expo.

One of the key issues facing facilities management professional is the challenge of delivering consistent services across boundaries. Global FM Publishes its 2011 Annual Review

BRUSSELS, Belgium — (20 December 2011) — Global FM, the worldwide federation of facility management organisations, has released the 2011 Annual Review. The 2011 Annual Review sets out the vision and mission of Global FM, provides an overview of activities and summarises the financial position of the organisation.

Teena G. Shouse, CFM, IFMA Fellow, the Chairperson of Global FM stated:
“I am glad that I waited until the entire report was complete to write this quote (much to the dismay of the publisher). It offered me an opportunity to reflect on the progress of Global FM and take pride in the accomplishments of the efforts of the members, sponsors and management team. As I look toward the 2012 horizon I am filled with hope and excitement as to the possibilities. Keep an eye on Global FM and watch the good things to come. Better yet, jump in and be a part of it!  Enjoy reading the Annual Report and let us hear from you as to your thoughts on our activities and ideas for assisting us in creating a higher profile and enhanced knowledge in Facility Management.”
